Regular Season Round 8: ZZ Leiden - Oostende 98-90

The biggest surprise took place in Leiden where host DutchZZ Leiden (7-1) beat league's leader Belgian Oostende (7-1) 98-90 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Oostende. It was a key game for the top position in the league. ZZ Leiden shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. 25 personal fouls committed by Oostende helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Javian McCollum (188-2002, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 46 points (!!!) and 7 assists (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). Sam Huurman (202-2001) chipped in 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American guard Aaron Estrada (190-2001, college: Alabama) produced 23 points and 4 assists and Joppe Mennes (196-2003) added 21 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Oostende's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. ZZ Leiden keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Antwerp and Oostende.
